A CAR with a family of four inside flipped onto its roof, injuring the mother and two sons on the M40 near Warwick on Saturday.
The mother, in her forties, had to be air lifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, after she was given pain relief for an arm injury sustained in the two-car crash that took place around 12:15pm.
The two sons were both taken to the same hospital by land ambulance with minor injuries.
The occupant of the other car, a woman, had to be immobilised with a spinal board and neck collar, and taken to nearby Warwick Hospital, although she was later released with minor injuries.
The father of the family emerged unscathed, but four people in total were injured in the crash on the northbound carriageway between junctions 14 and 15 of the motorway.
Two ambulance crews, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Worcestershire attended.
As a result of the collision the northbound carriageway was closed to traffic. The southbound carriageway was also closed for a short time to allow the air ambulance to land.
Police investigating the collision would like to hear from anyone travelling on the M40 motorway around12.15pm who saw the two vehicles travelling north near to the Warwick and Leamington Spa turnings, or anyone who witnessed the collision itself.
